Our program is currently open to new riders.

The nonprofit Horseplay Therapeutic Riding Center, which is affiliated with NARHA, offers a year-round therapeutic recreational horseback-riding program for special needs children and adults. (Enrollment requires physician consent.) Riding develops strength and balance, and increases self-esteem, benefiting individuals with conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, Down Syndrome, autism, brain injury or head trauma, visual and and hearing impairments, mental or learning disorders and muscular dystrophy.

If you're considering Horseplay as a therapeutic recreational option, you're welcome to visit the barn and observe sessions.

Minimum age for participation is four years old. Maximum weight for a rider is 200 lbs.

Rider tuition covers only one-third of Horseplay's expenses, and we rely on private donations to make up the difference. Because our costs are ongoing, rider absences are not credited. Occasionally sessions are canceled because of hazardous conditions, extreme heat or cold for example. Again, because our costs continue, we do not credit for canceled sessions. Rider families are billed monthly, in advance, $30.00 per session.

To begin the enrollment process, please print, fill out and mail the rider enrollment packet (Microsoft Word document) to Horseplay Therapeutic Riding Center, PO Box 506, Vacaville, CA 95696. Once the rider coordinator has received the information, she'll contact you to confirm the form was received and discuss the program with you.
