Becoming a PATH International Certified InstructorWe are seeking part-time PATH International-certified instructors. Salary is $18.00/hour (no benefits). Current Horseplay instructors have full-time jobs outside of Horseplay and therefore work approximately 5-10 hours per week. If you aren't certified, but have horse experience, please let us know if you're interested in becoming a registered-level PATH International instructor. We require prospective, uncertified instructors to attend a volunteer orientation, then volunteer for 20 hours as a leader and sidewalker to become familiar with the program, riders and horses. Once this requirement has been fulfilled, prospective instructors take a basic walk, trot, canter riding test. Horseplay staff then decide if an instructor candidate is ready to advance to instructor-in-training status and lead sessions. While you're fulfilling the PATH International requirement of 25 hours as an instructor in training, you'll also fulfill the additional pre-certification requirements, such as online PATH International exams. Once you've completed all pre-certification requirements, you're eligible for Horseplay to pay for the certification workshop, currently $750.00. In return for funding certification, we require a minimum of instructing two Saturdays per month for one year. (Additional instructor hours may be possible.) PATH International requires instructors to be at least 18 years old. Please visit the PATH website for complete information about the registered-level certification process. How Do I Get Started? We ask that prospective instructors visit Horseplay to observe sessions in progress. This allows you to see first-hand what is involved in instructing and the range of our riders' abilities. You'll also have a chance to ask questions in person and meet the other instructors. Instructing for Horseplay is both challenging and fun; all of the current instructors are passionate about the program and the benefits it offers. You'll be joining an enthusiastic and welcoming group of people! Please feel free to contact us with any questions. |
