OPEN POSITIONSINSTRUCTORWe are seeking part-time NARHA-certified instructors. Salary is $18.00/hour (no benefits). Current Horseplay instructors have full-time jobs outside of Horseplay and therefore work approximately 5-10 hours per week. Interested in Becoming a NARHA Certified Instructor? If you aren't certified, but have horse experience, please let us know if you're interested in becoming a registered-level NARHA instructor. Once you've fulfilled Horseplay's and the NARHA requirements, you're eligible for us to pay for the certification workshop, currently $550.00 for a minimum of instructing two Saturdays per month for one year. (Additional instructor hours may be possible.) To become an instructor candidate, at Horseplay we have the following requirements:
NARHA requires instructors to be at least 18 years old, and you can visit the NARHA Web site for complete information about the registered-level certification process. In the past, we've sent instructors to the certification weekend at Equi-Ed in Calistoga. Instructor candidates fulfill a minimum of 25 instructor-in-training hours to meet the NARHA requirements. As an instructor in training, you'll be responsible for deciding on session activities and directing sessions as well as assigning tack and riders to horses. Once you've fulfilled these intitial NARHA and Horseplay requirements, you're eligible for certification. You do need to be self-motivated to complete the additional Phase 1 NARHA requirements, including CPR/First Aid and online NARHA exams, prior to certification. How Do I Get Started? We ask that prospective applicants visit the center to observe sessions in progress. This allows you to see first-hand what is involved in instructing and the range of our riders' abilities. You'll also have a chance to ask questions in person and meet the other instructors. Instructing for Horseplay is both challenging and fun; all of the current instructors are passionate about the program and the benefits it offers. You'll be joining an enthusiastic and welcoming group of people! Please feel free to contact us with any questions. |
